RINO Rep. Tom Mehaffie votes with PA House Dems for taxpayer funded puberty blockers, calls Freedom Caucus' efforts to block a "Witch Hunt"
How RINO Rep. Tom Mehaffie (PA-106) stood with the woke PA House Democrats in support of taxpayer funded puberty blockers and called Freedom Caucus' strong opposition a "Witch Hunt."
Unprecedented Times
As our commonwealth and country move closer to the 2024 election cycle, all eligible voters must realize what's at stake in this defining historical moment. Now more than ever, our way of life is under attack, and every American value, principle, and ideal we hold dear is in more danger today than ever, especially in the Keystone State.
Sadly, Pennsylvanians are reminded daily of how bad things have become at the hands of the Democrats in Harrisburg, along with the radical special interests and far-left organizations who own and fund them.
Their goals and priorities are clear, and they revolve around turning our state upside-down by ruthlessly shoving "wokeness," Marxism, victimhood, and resentment down as many of our throats as possible, whether we like it or not.
Now a day's, everything, including our constitutional rights takes a back seat to the Democrat's radical agenda. A textbook example occurred this past June in Reading, Pennsylvania, when a Christian man named Damaon Atkins was arrested for reading the bible out loud on a public street corner.
In a statement Rep. Dave Zimmerman (R-Lancaster/Berks) called it like it is:
“This shameful arrest of Mr. Atkins was a disgraceful violation of his constitutional rights and abuse of justice.”
Indeed, this man, like many others over the last several years, was not only targeted because of his faith and conservative beliefs, but the particular public street corner he was on, as it just so happened to be across from an LGBTQ+ pride month demonstration.
Though, one would think that those who belong to the party of Jefferson, Jackson, and JFK would denounce this gross violation of the first amendment, which protects all Americans right to peacefully protest regardless of our race, religion and sexual orientation.
Sadly, the days of Democrats championing classical liberal values like free speech are over and have been over for some time. In reality, it’s highly likely that this wouldn't have even happened if the roles were opposite and a leftist was protesting a conservative event.
Unfortunately, gross double standards, egregious hypocrisy and massive political bias like this have become the new normal thanks to the insidious, woke leftwing agenda that has now extended to almost every facet of our society. It’s clear that the Democrats are working relentlessly to codify a new status-quo in our state. It is one of chaos, disorder, and utter insanity.
Thus far, they are succeeding with flying colors, thanks to do-nothing Republicans in Harrisburg like my state Representative, so called “Republican” (In-Name-Only) Tom Mehaffie who has a proven record of supporting the Democrat’s radical agenda.
“Based King” RINO Rep. Tom Mehaffie vs PA House Freedom Caucus
As Thomas Jefferson once said: "Far and away, the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." While most of us would agree with this, it's clear Jefferson would be disheartened to see that so many elected officials in our state and country today lack the inclination to serve the public good and instead work hard serving only themselves and corrupt special interests.
Thankfully, the Pennsylvania House Freedom Caucus members have shown the courage to put the public interest over private interests and fight for what is morally right instead of comfortable and politically expedient.
A perfect example occurred on June 2nd when the PHFC released a letter saying their members opposed state funding for health institutions that provide pediatric puberty blockers, including the state-related university healthcare systems of Penn State University, Temple University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
“Puberty blockers, hormone therapies, surges, chest surges, bottom surgeries were rarer in children,” though she noted that professionals were coming to them and saying that “ This is not a good practice; this is not a good standard of care. There are many adverse consequences to it… one being that your bones aren’t developing properly. So it’s poor structural development.”
“With hormone therapy, that’s a huge issue. You’re messing with the (child’s) endocrine system, which is a whole other issue.”
“This is all experimental, these are off-label uses of drugs on children. And once someone has taken these steps they become patients for life.”
Time and again, many people across our state and country have echoed and reinforced these concerns. Though, frankly it's hard to imagine how any sane or rational adult wouldn't vehemently oppose the use of experimental puberty blockers on minors, especially when they are proven to cause irreversible harm.
Interestingly, not every house Republican agreed with Keefer and her colleagues' efforts to protect children from abuse, self-described “moderate” Rep. Tom Mehaffie, whose district includes two Penn State Hospitals and a children’s hospital.
In an interview with Spotlight PA, so called “Based King” Tom Mehaffie said flat out that the Freedom Caucus’ efforts were a “Witch-Hunt”:
For those paying attention, Rep. Tom Mehaffie's very smug statement has some major red flags and says a lot about who he is and who he isn't.
First, instead of being honest and direct, as any public servant should, Mehaffie shows how much of a spineless career politician he is (and has always been) by slyly choosing not to specify what he supposedly "disagrees" with regarding the universities decisions.
Therefore, it's clear that the statement itself was likely just a rhetorical shield to spin the fact that he was more than willing to vote with the Democrats on a portion of the state budget which included taxpayer funding for experimental puberty blockers on minors under the age of 10 along with a host of other priorities of the Democrats and left-wing special interests.
Unfortunately, for Mehaffie as well as the Democrats, Penn State University failed to receive the 2/3 majority after several republicans joined the PA House Freedom Caucus in opposition to puberty blockers and increased tuition.
Interestingly, thanks to Governor Shapiro's line-item veto of the PASS program, which was insisted on by the radical left-wing teachers union bosses, the budget Mehaffie voted for lacked critical school choice priorities that his constituents and the vast majority of Pennsylvanians care about.
Instead of choosing to vote to provide funding for popular school choice priorities like lifeline scholarships that would save thousands of underprivileged children trapped in failing school districts across the commonwealth, Mehaffie chose to appease the left-wing special interests who own him and vote with the Democrats to fund experimental puberty blockers proven to cause irreversible damage to minors.
In the end, Rep. Mehaffie could have joined his GOP colleagues and voted to help children but once again voted to hurt them.
The REAL Witch Hunt
It seems Rep. Tom Mehaffie's definition of a political witch-hunt is VASTLY different from not only his Republican constituents but GOP voters across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States of America.
Last time I checked, for most of us, the term "Witch Hunt" has long been associated with the many instances in which the Democrat Party has abused the justice system to target their political opponents, mainly Republicans, conservatives, and people of faith.
However, Tom Mehaffie apparently equates it with the courageous and noble efforts of his GOP colleagues in the PA House Freedom Caucus, who, unlike him, actually do their job as elected officials and stand up for the health and well-being of our commonwealth's most important citizens, our children.
I'm sure the vast majority of GOP voters in Pennsylvania's 106th district and across our commonwealth would find Tom Mehaffie's view of what defines a political witch hunt as disgusting and deeply offensive on every level, especially considering what is currently happening with the now third indictment of our former president and current 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner, Donald J. Trump, at the hands of Joe Biden and his corrupt justice department.
Americans and Pennsylvanians are tired of seeing the heinous crimes and epic corruption of the Biden Crime family and the Democrat party go unpunished. We are also sick of seeing our favorite president, fellow Republicans, conservatives, and people of faith, being unlawfully targeted and persecuted for our opinions and beliefs.
Speaking for the hardworking taxpayers of Pennsylvania's 106th district, there is also something inherently wrong with our so-called "Republican" Rep. Tom Mehaffie, who feeds into the false narrative of the woke left that implies conservatives who stand up for what is not only morally right but just plain common sense, are, somehow, radical-crazed right-wingers who aren't tolerant of others.
A perfect example is how Mehaffie labeled the efforts of PA freedom caucus members to block taxpayer funding for puberty blockers as a political "Witch-Hunt" to the media, which, ironically, are tactics the radical Democrats use every day to obscure the truth and create a fake reality.
There is nothing "far right" or "far" anything about standing up for what is morally right, nor pushing back against the insanity of the left with facts to defend ourselves, our children, and our future against the kind of vicious attacks on the same values and principles our founders would have gladly died on a hill to defend.
Time and again, Tom Mehaffie has made it clear that he does not feel this way, which has become a big problem for his Republican constituents in PA-106 who see the writing on the wall.
By now, we know that this is just business as usual for our spineless self-described "Moderate" state representative, who has built a long and failed record in Harrisburg by standing in lockstep with the woke Democrats and the deeply crooked organizations who fund their radical agenda while working directly against the interests of the GOP and the goals of the conservative movement.
In the final analysis, for all of these reasons, Rep. Tom Mehaffie MUST be challenged by a real Republican in 2024 who is not owned by union bosses and far-left organizations and dares to stand with the PA House Freedom Caucus in direct opposition to the insanity of the modern Democrat Party.
Taxpaying residents of PA-106 deserve nothing less than a legislator in Harrisburg who equals these changing and uncertain times that they can always trust to put Pennsylvania and our children's future FIRST.
